Provincial Chapter of the Franciscan province of the ‘Incarnate Word’
Fourth Day: Thursday, 7 th of July 2022

The activities of the fourth day of the Provincial Chapter July 2022 began with Mass and the Liturgy of Ours at 6 am. The Eucharist was presided by Br. Armando Costa (ofm), Custos of the Custody of Guinea Bissau. In his homily, Br. Armando invited the assembly to be men of peace, forgiveness and reconciliation.
The plenary started at 8 am under the presidency of Br. Marcel TSHIKEZ (ofm). The assembly was moderated by Br. Didier KOUBLANOU (ofm). After the opening prayer, the secretary of the chapter read a letter written to the assembly by Br. Michel Laloux, (ofm), Minister Provincial of the Province of Blessed John Don Scottus (France-Belgium)). In this letter Br. Michel addressed his fraternal greetings to the all the Capitulars. He invites the friars to rejoice in the Lord for all his kindness. Then the minutes of the previous day was read, amended and adopted.
The capitulars were sent into carrefours in order to discuss important topics and make suggestions for the future life of the Province.
The second half of the morning focused on discussions about the Particular Statutes of the Province. Those reflections were essentially about the norms regarding the vote of the government of the Province.
In the afternoon, the plenary resumed at 3:30 pm with the reflection and adoption of the new statutes. Then, feedback was given on the results of the group discussions. Due to the importance of matters to be discussed, the plenary worked up to almost 10 pm before the General Visitator sent brothers to rest. However, some recommendations and decisions were made, especially in area such us fraternal life, Heath issues, Initial and ongoing formation, and the economic affairs of the province. The remaining matters were postponed to the next day.

Les activités de la 4 e journée du chapitre provincial de juillet 2022 ont débuté à 6h avec la liturgie des heures intégrée à la Messe. La sainte Eucharistie a été présidée par le frère Armando Costa (ofm), Custode de la Custodie de la Guinée Bissau.
La plénière a commencé à 8h sous la présidence du Fr. Marcel TSHIKEZ (ofm), Visiteur Général. Le modérateur du jour était le Fr. Didier KOUBLANOU (ofm). Après la prière d’ouverture, le secrétaire du chapitre a donné lecture de la Lettre du Michel Laloux, (ofm), Ministre Provincial de la Province du Bienheureux Jean Don Scot (en Italie). Dans sa lettre, le Fr. Michel a adressé ses salutations fraternelles à tous les capitulaires tout en les exhortant tous à se réjouir dans le Seigneur pour sa bienveillance. Ensuite le procès verbal des activités de la journée précédant a été lu, amende et adopte.
Alors, les capitulaires ont été renvoyés en ateliers pour discuter sur des sujets importants (Vie fraternelle, la sante des frères, l’Économie de la Province, la vie Spirituelle des frères, etc.), afin de pouvoir faire des propositions pour la vie future de la Province.
Au retour des ateliers, l’assemblée a planche sur le document des textes du statut particulier de la province, textes relatifs aux élections du gouvernement provincial.
La plénière a repris dans l’après-midi à 15h30 avec la réflexion et l’adoption des nouveaux statuts de la province. Ensuite les remontées des travaux d’ateliers.
Compte tenu de l’importance des affaires à traiter, les capitulaires ont travaillé jusqu’à environ 22h avant que les aillent pour le repos de la nuit. Toutefois, un nombre important de recommandations et de décisions ont été prises, notamment dans le domaine de la vie fraternelle, la formation initiale et permanente, les affaires économiques.
